St-Jakobi church Wietzendorf

The name reminds one of the disciples, who belonged to the Jesus' inner circle. The beginnings of the community go back to the missionary Landolf, who reached Wietze via the Aller and built a chapel in a grove dedicated to Hertha. The church was built in neo-Gothic style in 1876. The steeple from 1746 made from wood has been used further. It carries three large bells. The oldest bell from 1564 was cast be a travelling bell founder.
Interior: the bronze baptismal font (1350) is one of the oldest pieces in the church. In the year 1957 the sanctuary was painted by Rudolf Schäfer. The two paintings left and right of the chancel depict Easter and Christmas. The pictures in the ceiling vaults of the chancel point to the messianic promises by the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 9:5).
